Nitric oxide(NO)is a simple gaseous molecule.It can be synthesized by nitric oxide synthase (NOS) in mammalian meurons.Accumulating evidence indicates diverse roles of NO/NOS in nerve injury and repair.This review will discuss different roles of NO/NOS in traumatic nerve injury and neural regeneration.
